About me
Sarah EW Finch, Ph.D, is a Professor of Biology and Biotechnology at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, OH. She was born and raised in the suburb of Bellbrook, OH. Sarah graduated from Miami University in Oxford, OH with a degree in Microbiology and a Medical Sociology minor. Sarah continued her education at the University of Georgia where she earned her Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics by studying the protein involved in spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), a genetic disease that strikes mostly children. Upon conclusion of a post-doc, Sarah returned to the classroom to teach undergraduates in several community colleges in Jacksonville, FL and Hampton, VA beginning in 2007. She has taught Biology classes in online, remote and traditional classroom environments. Sarah is an integral member of numerous committees dedicated to empowering women and helping them find their career paths in STEM and academia, including the Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (WiSTEM) Institute at Sinclair, Women in Leadership and Learning (WILL) at Sinclair, and the Women’s Institute for Leadership Development (WILD) which has partnered with institutions throughout the tristate region to support, develop and advance women in higher education.
